Our Story
Fuelled by our passions for great music and even greater beer Don Valley Brewery (DVB) has come a long way…
…Our journey commenced in 2013 when we embarked on an innovative adventure, purchasing our cherished local spot in the picturesque village of Cadeby near Doncaster. By 2018, we had taken the reins of the ‘Firwood Cottage’ pub in Walkley, meticulously restoring it to its former glory and renaming it ‘The Blind Monkey’.
From there, our business expanded as we ventured into a small microbrewery in Mexborough. However, we soon realized that the limited space and location weren’t conducive to our growing enterprise. Consequently, we made the decision to relocate the brewery to Sandtoft. We transformed a vacant area at the headquarters of our Liberty Group company, which has been in operation since 1982.
We constructed a purpose-built brewery with the capability to produce over 1150 hectolitres of beer annually. Our capacity was tripled with the addition of four conical fermenters and conditioning tanks, along with the installation of a canning machine and bottling equipment for small, packaged goods. Our company name remained the same, but we embraced a more commercial and fun approach to naming our beers, drawing inspiration from good music and good times.
Furthermore, our portfolio of pubs expanded with the acquisition of subsequent extensive refurbishments of the Coach & Horses in Barnburgh and the Plough Inn in Snaith. We also take pride in serving our beers in two tap bars within the recently renovated Victorian wool market in Doncaster.
More recently, we have expanded the brewery itself to include our very own brewery tap and shop. This allows customers to visit and indulge in our offerings firsthand.
We fuse excellent beer and delightful tunes to create the ultimate experience for our patrons, whether they’re savouring our brews in our establishments or from the comfort of their homes. Quality remains our utmost priority, and we are dedicated to consistently delivering the finest Flavors.

OUR Brewery

This allowed us to triple our production capacity to over 1150 hectolitres of beer per year, and create small, packaged goods for our customers to enjoy at home. We’re proud to stay true to our local heritage by keeping the company name, but also inject a fun and commercial vibe by naming our beers after good music and good times. As a craft beer brewery, we’re committed to providing our customers with unique and high-quality beers that showcase our passion for the craft.
